SiteGround vs Bluehost Pricing Comparison Charts

SiteGround and Bluehost are both “recommended” providers by WordPress. They’re also notoriously picky with their discounts and coupons. In this SiteGround vs Bluehost pricing comparison, I’ll look at how each of their products stacks up against the other in terms of price, and point out whatever’s interesting.

Note: All these prices have been standardized to 1-year renewals only. Hosting providers show misleading prices on their front pages. The discounts and deals you see here are the real comparisons.

SiteGround vs Bluehost Pricing – Shared Web Hosting

Basic Hosting Advanced Hosting Premium Hosting Super Premium Hosting
SiteGround Shared Hosting $6.99/month
Bluehost Shared Hosting $2.95/month

You can see that SiteGround shared web hosting is a lot more expensive than Bluehost.

SiteGround vs Bluehost Pricing - Shared Web Hosting

However, SiteGround has amazing discounts for the duration of the first subscription only. After that, you pay full price. Be careful though! It’s easy to get lured into purchasing SiteGround thinking that it’s cheap. If you look at the chart though, you’ll see that its GoGeek plan is anything but. In fact as you’ll see further down, they promote it as their VPS plan.

With the latest Bluehost deals, you can get some of the cheapest hosting around starting at $2.95/month (1-year renewal). Bluehost also has a “Business Pro” plan as a 4th tier with all kinds of goodies. However, even though it’s “Super Premium”, it doesn’t come anywhere close to the price of the 3rd tier SiteGround GoGeek plan. Without a doubt, SiteGround is one of the most expensive shared hosting providers.

The flipside is that SiteGround has a whole bunch of services that are truly premium. You can read about them in my SiteGround review. Basically, you get what you pay for.

SiteGround vs Bluehost Pricing – WordPress Hosting

Basic WordPress Hosting Advanced WP Hosting Premium WP Hosting Super Premium WP Hosting
SiteGround WordPress Hosting $6.99/month
Bluehost WordPress Hosting $9.95/month
Bluehost WooCommerce + WordPress $6.95/month
(Very weird)

The tables are reversed for WordPress hosting, as Bluehost has some of the most expensive WordPress plans around. You can read my explanation of why Bluehost WordPress plans are expensive to understand why.

In fact, Bluehost actually has two types of WordPress hosting – Regular WordPress and WordPress + WooCommerce.

SiteGround vs Bluehost Pricing - WordPress Hosting

If you’re looking for cheap WordPress hosting, you’re not going to get it with Bluehost! It’s far more economical to opt for the WordPress+WooCommerce combo instead. As you can see, they’re much more comparable to SiteGround’s WordPress prices.

However, if you’re truly serious about WooCommerce, I suggest you go for the best. Liquid Web’s managed WordPress hosting is without equal, and is the true long term solution for any dedicated e-commerce site.

The very top tier of Bluehost WordPress hosting will set you back by $69.99/month. Not for the faint of heart! But as mentioned in my link above, there’s a reason for that. Basically, it will handle everything you throw at it.

SiteGround vs Bluehost Pricing – VPS Hosting

Basic VPS Hosting Advanced VPS Hosting Premium VPS Hosting
SiteGround VPS Hosting (GoGeek) $11.95/month
Bluehost VPS Hosting $18.99/month

SiteGround’s VPS hosting plans are characterized by the lack thereof! They have just one plan – which is nothing but their “GoGeek” offering.

SiteGround vs Bluehost Pricing - VPS Hosting

Bluehost on the other hand, has fully traditional VPS services, at the expected price ranges.

SiteGround calls this “Semi-dedicated” hosting. But they don’t actually have a VPS hosting option. So if you’re looking for a server on which you can install anything you want from scratch, SiteGround will not give you that. They reserve their “true” VPS tier offerings for their next plan – cloud hosting.

SiteGround vs Bluehost Pricing – Cloud Hosting

Basic Cloud Hosting Advanced Cloud Hosting Premium Cloud Hosting Super Premium Cloud Hosting
SiteGround Cloud Hosting $100/month $200/month $300/month $400/month
Bluehost Cloud Hosting $10.95/month $15.95/month $20.95/month

Here is where SiteGround makes up for its lack of VPS servers in the previous section. Neither SiteGround nor Bluehost offer discounts for cloud hosting. It’s just the basic price as you can see.

SiteGround vs Bluehost Pricing Cloud Comparisons

However, while Bluehost treats cloud hosting as just an extension of shared hosting, SiteGround disagrees. Their cloud services are truly top tier, going up to a staggering $400/month!

Indeed, SiteGround’s cloud services even beat out Bluehost’s full fledged dedicated servers – which is frankly quite astounding. They clearly mean business.

SiteGround vs Bluehost Pricing – Dedicated Servers

Basic Dedicated Servers Advanced Dedicated Servers Premium Dedicated Servers
SiteGround Dedicated Hosting $269/month $349/month $729/month
Bluehost Dedicated Hosting $79.99/month

SiteGround’s premium status is cemented in its offering of dedicated servers. If you thought their cloud hosting was expensive, check these out!

SiteGround vs Bluehost Pricing - Dedicated Servers

Bluehost’s most expensive dedicated server plan costs $119.99/month. SiteGround’s similar offering will give you a jaw dropping bill of $729/month! Naturally this is reflected in the server specs, but holy cow – what a difference. And they don’t offer any discount coupons either.

Bluehost on the other hand, offers hefty discounts on its dedicated servers for the first renewal period, making them that much more attractive to start out with. So if you’re looking to dip your waters into the dedicated server space, and don’t want to commit to a large investment, Bluehost is the right choice for you.

Final Pricing Comparison Thoughts

When it comes to heavy duty WordPress installations, Bluehost has to take the prize for its enterprise level offerings. Apart from WordPress hosting though, Bluehost doesn’t have any super premium offerings to compare with SiteGround. If you have real demands on your website, SiteGround will be able to handle anything you throw at it. It’s dedicated servers are way of out Bluehost’s league. I’m guessing however, that Bluehost’s plans will be more than enough for the overwhelmingly large majority of customers.

If you’re looking for a full blow VPS solution, then again Bluehost is the one you want. SiteGround’s caters to the VPS market by boosting its cloud hosting services, which are truly impressive and are actually a match in performance to Bluehost’s dedicated servers!

Of course, SiteGround has plenty of unique features of its own that distinguish it from Bluehost. Supercacher, and staging are just two of them. You can read about those in my SiteGround review. But as for whether or not you think those features are worth the jump in price – that’s for you to decide!
