Here are some common questions about RoseHosting.

RoseHosting VPS Coupon Code: 50% off First Month

You have two choices for a RoseHosting VPS code:

  1. 10% off forever billed years
  2. 50% off for the first month only – billed monthly

So if you plan to host your VPS with RoseHosting for a long time, I suggest you choose the yearly plan with 10% off instead. You’ll save a lot more money. While it might seem like RoseHosting’s VPS coupons are bad, you’ll see below that the shared hosting coupons are even worse!

RoseHosting Shared Hosting Coupon Code: No Discount

RoseHosting doesn’t care about shared hosting in the least. Not only is there no discount, but the basic shared hosting plan is also permanently “sold out” as shown here:

RoseHosting Shared Hosting is Always Sold Out
RoseHosting Shared Hosting is Always Sold Out

Not just that, the available plans are very expensive. I haven’t tested them myself, so I can’t speak for their performance, but suffice to say that it’s not for the budget-conscious. If you’re going to pay this much for shared hosting, I suggest you choose another host that has better discounts. The only benefit I can see is that they offer LiteSpeed, but then you don’t need RoseHosting for that. Here are the best LiteSpeed web hosts that I recommend.

RoseHosting WordPress Coupon Code: 50%% off First Month

Like the VPS plan, you have only two RoseHosting WordPress coupon code choices – 50% off the first month, or 10% off if you choose a yearly billing cycle.

The RoseHosting WordPress plan is merely a VPS plan – not even managed WordPress

This makes RoseHosting one of the most expensive WordPress providers. They call it “transparent pricing”, but to me, it’s just poor value. Just about every other web host has better WordPress-specific features, but RoseHosting’s entire WordPress website has nothing specific to WordPress at all.

The RoseHosting WordPress plan is exactly the same as their VPS plan. There’s no difference in the configuration, and they don’t make any WordPress-specific optimizations. They don’t even install WordPress and give it to you! The whole purpose of the RoseHosting WordPress plan is to lure customers in who want to buy managed WordPress hosting and sell them a VPS instead.

If you want genuinely managed hosting, check out my comparison of WordPress web hosts. For the price that RoseHosting is charging, you’re better off hosting with just about anyone else.

How Do I Apply a RoseHosting Coupon Code in 2024?

You can apply a coupon at the order screen after you click the appropriate plan. On the right-hand side, you’ll see a link called “Use Promotional Code” as shown here:

Use RoseHosting Promo Code

Or if you’re ordering a custom VPS server, use the option “Add Coupon Code” like this:

Add RoseHosting Coupon Code for Custom VPS
Add RoseHosting Coupon Code for Custom VPS

When you click the coupon codes in the above table, they’ll be automatically copied to your clipboard. From there, just paste them into the text boxes shown above and proceed. The discount amounts will be calculated and shown immediately:

Discount Coupon for 50 Percent First Month Off
Discount Coupon for 50 Percent First Month Off

It’s pretty simple and transparent.

RoseHosting Coupon Codes vs Other Web Host Discounts

Here’s how RoseHosting pricing stacks up against other website hosting providers:

Web HostHighest Discount Coupon
RoseHosting VPS 48% (First month ONLY)
DreamHost VPS 33%
InMotion VPS 70%
Hostgator VPS 75%
Bluehost VPS 37%
NameHero VPS 45%
HostArmada VPS 25%
A2 Hosting VPS 48%
DreamHost Coupon Discounts vs Other Web Host Discounts

As you can see, RoseHosting falls far behind when it comes to decent pricing for its VPS plans. The worst part is that their discount only applies to the first month of hosting! All the other hosting providers shown here apply the discount to their entire billing cycle. This makes RoseHosting extremely unattractive if you’re looking for a good deal.

RoseHosting Discounts vs Hostgator Coupons for 2024

Even though Hostgator’s VPS plans are one of the most expensive, they have excellent discounts for the first billing cycle at 75%. However, after the discount has worn off, you pay the full price of $79.95/m, which is a lot more expensive than RoseHosting at $39.95/m.

Hostgator VPS is more expensive than RoseHosting, but cheaper when it comes to all other packages.

I don’t know why Hostgator VPS is so expensive, considering that they’re a budget web host and they have the cheapest pricing in pretty much everything else. So when it comes to pricing, I have to say that Hostgator’s pricing is significantly worse than even RoseHosting’s. You can see the complete Hostgator coupon code 2024 table for all their plans.

When it comes to other products like managed WordPress hosting, however, Hostgator is much better. Their WordPress plans have actual benefits like an in-built CDN, server caching, automatic installations, malware scanning, and more. So Hostgator is a better deal than RoseHosting when it comes to pretty much everything other than VPS.

RoseHosting Coupons vs InMotion Coupons

RoseHosting coupons are vastly inferior to those offered by InMotion hosting – especially when it comes to VPS plans. And though the starter VPS plan by InMotion is more expensive at $59.99/m after the discount wears off, the later InMotion VPS packages are cheaper and better than RoseHosting.

InMotion has better discounts and coupons than RoseHosting, with better hardware and customization.

When it comes to managed WordPress plans, InMotion is leagues ahead of RoseHosting with a custom software stack including a NGINX reverse-proxy server, and automatic backups and restores. This means that InMotion hosting has actual WordPress hosting instead of just selling you an ordinary VPS server with no modifications. So you get a lot more value for money with InMotion.

As the resources increase with the plans, InMotion becomes progressively more cost-effective than RoseHosting, sometimes offering double the number of cores for the same or even a lower price. So once again, RoseHosting falls behind when it comes to offering lower prices and discounts for the same service with even less differentiation.

Does RoseHosting Offer Monthly Discount Plans?

There are two types of RoseHosting discounts – for monthly hosting, and yearly hosting. The yearly discount coupon gives you a flat 10% off the total purchase price when you buy annually. The monthly coupon, on the other hand, gives you 50% off the price of the first month’s payment.

Here’s the coupon for a max of 50% off.

What makes RoseHosting unique is that the yearly plan acts as a RoseHosting renewal coupon for life! Unlike other providers who give you a discount only for the first billing cycle, RoseHosting allows you to keep it even for renewals. That’s truly unique!

While placing your order, you can switch between monthly and annual billing on the order page after choosing your domain options as shown here:

Choose Billing Cycle at RoseHosting Checkout
Choose Billing Cycle at RoseHosting Checkout

So if you just want to test out the waters, the monthly payment plan is a great way to host your website without committing fully. The best part is that all payments are pro-rated – even after using the associated coupon! For example, say you purchase a basic hosting plan in the middle of the month, you’ll only be charged for half the amount as shown here:

RoseHosting Prorated Payments
RoseHosting Prorated Payments

RoseHosting is very fair and transparent about its pricing options. No hidden charges and no automatic “opt-out” upsells. What you see is what you get.

What’s RoseHosting Customer Service Like?

RoseHosting has some excellent customer reviews. They feature in my list of top 3 web hosts for customer support including SiteGround, and Liquid Web.

They have a customer review rating of 9.6 out of 10 on TrustPilot as of this writing. Here are a few sample reviews showcasing their customer support:

RoseHosting Review 2

What’s interesting is that some of their customers have been with them for a long time. It’s a good sign when a hosting provider has long-term clients who are happy with the service:

A lot of hosting providers try and upsell their products. I remember when I had a DDoS problem with Bluehost and they tried to move me to their “pro” plan instead of helping me fix it. RoseHosting doesn’t do that. Instead of trying to make you purchase a more expensive plan, they do their best to help you squeeze the most out of your existing package:

Where is RoseHosting’s Support Staff Located?

All of RoseHosting’s support is based in the US. They take care of their own customer service and don’t outsource it to anyone else. They have three ways you can get in touch with them:

  1. Ticketing System
  2. Live Chat
  3. E-mail

They maintain a ticketing response time of less than 5-minutes. That’s pretty cool! If you email them at support@rosehosting.com, a ticket will be created automatically for you.

In addition, they have a complete knowledgebase for their servers, and this includes manuals for two separate web panels, namely:

  1. cPanel
  2. DirectAdmin

Who Owns RoseHosting?

RoseHosting is privately owned. That means that it hasn’t yet fallen under the arm of any giant hosting conglomerate like EIG. It was founded in 2001 by Bobi Ruzinov, and specializes in VPS hosting. Though they also have a shared hosting plan.

Here are their contact details:

RoseHosting Phone 1: (888) 767-3467 (US)
RoseHosting Phone 2: (314) 275-0414 (International)
E-mail: support@rosehosting.com

Where Are RoseHosting’s Datacenters?

RoseHosting’s datacenter is located at the following address:

2977 Hwy K, STE 252 O’Fallon
Saint Louis,
MO
63368
United States

Here it is on the map:

RoseHosting Datacenter Location
RoseHosting Datacenter Location

It’s worth noting that RoseHosting owns its own servers and hardware. It means that it’s not renting it out or leasing them from anyone else. This is no server “white label” or rebranding effort. It also means that they don’t need to go through intermediaries for problems affecting their servers – they can do it themselves.

It’s a bit closer to the East coast of the US than the west. It also means they have no data centers in Asia or Europe. If you’re looking for a data center in Asia, I suggest you find a provider with a location in Singapore, since it’s the best city for data centers in that part of the world.

Does RoseHosting Oversell its Servers?

Overselling is a major problem across web hosts. This is particularly true due to the lack of transparency surrounding server crowding – only SiteGround is fully transparent about its shared resources. However, RoseHosting has a long history of avoiding overselling.

For example, here’s their Linux virtual server page way back in 2001 promising no more than 15 virtual servers per machine:

Maximum of 15 Virtual Servers Per Machine in 2001
Maximum of 15 Virtual Servers Per Machine in 2001

Incidentally, RoseHosting was also the first web host to offer Linux virtual servers in the hosting world! That not only shows how long they’ve been around, but also that they’re quite a leader in the field, and experiment with emerging technologies to stay ahead of the curve.

Review of Unique RoseHosting Features

My Rating: 4.8/5

There are quite a lot of things that make RoseHosting unique. Here’s a run-down of all the features that set them apart from the competition:

Managed Servers with Root Access

Some VPS providers like SiteGround don’t give you root access to their systems in a managed environment. They think (rightly), that if something goes wrong, they’ll end up having to clean the mess, which can get time-consuming and expensive. RoseHosting however, allows root access on all its managed VPS servers.

This brings me to the next unique feature.

1-Hour Free Web App Support Per Month

All VPS hosting providers have separate, paid packages for dedicated technical support. This is because technical support is expensive and requires a lot of hard work. RoseHosting provides 1-hr of free technical support for web apps per month! That’s an amazing value and it’s difficult to believe that it comes free with their plans.

If you need more than that, they have additional packages available as well.

LEMP Instead of LAMP

Almost all shared hosting plans run on the standard “LAMP” architecture – Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP. RoseHosting on the other hand runs NGINX instead of Apache. This specialized configuration gives an edge – especially for services like WordPress, since NGINX also functions as a reverse proxy, and thus brings additional speed and reliability to WordPress installations.

Choice of Control Panels

If you purchase a VPS, you’re going to need some kind of control panel. RoseHosting offers three choices:

  1. cPanel (most commonly used) – $12/month
  2. DirectAdmin – $5/month

These require a non-refundable one-time payment as licensing fees. However, RoseHosting offers a free control panel of your choice with a VPS12 plan and above. That’s excellent value!

Free Let’s Encrypt SSL

Well before Google made SSL necessary, RoseHosting provided free Let’s Encrypt certificates for its sites. This means there’s no need to pay extra to move your site to HTTPS from HTTP. Here’s a tutorial on how to install Let’s Encrypt certificates via cPanel.

But if you want additional SSL protection, you can purchase that too. RoseHosting also offers the following types of SSL:

  1. Domain Validation
  2. Organization Validation
  3. Extended Validation
  4. Wildcard SSL

In addition, they offer SSLs from Certificate Authorities like:

  1. Comodo
  2. GeoTrust
  3. Thawte
  4. RapidSSL

A one-stop-shop for all your SSL needs.

SSD Storage for All their Plans

While others have slowly started to catch up with the SSD bandwagon, RoseHosting has had SSD storage on all its plans for a long time at no additional cost. SSD is an order of magnitude faster than traditional hard drives for data storage and retrieval – especially for database heavy applications like WordPress.

It’s a different matter that you might not need SSD storage, depending on how much free memory you have, and the size of your database. But it’s always good to have SSDs in any case!

Custom VPS Plans in Addition to Regular Ones

RoseHosting’s specialty is VPS. As a result, it’s not surprising that they have a staggering nine default VPS configurations to choose from. They vary according to a bunch of parameters as shown here:

VPS Configuration Choices
VPS Configuration Choices

However, you can also create your own custom VPS solution by choosing the following parameters:

  1. RAM – 512 MB to 65 GB
  2. SSD disk storage – 10 GB to 1TB
  3. CPU Cores – 1 Core to 24 Cores
  4. Bandwidth – 2 TB to 50 TB

As shown here:

Configure Custom RoseHosting VPS

Along with a range of Linux OSs that you want installed by default. A managed DNS service is also included for free!

A Few Weak Points of RoseHosting

There are a couple of weak points with RoseHosting that I feel they could improve on:

Weekly Backups

Your server gets one weekly backup for free. In my opinion, this is a bit too low. In my article on CodeGuard alternatives, I show how some providers like A2 Hosting offer free “Server Rewinds” in real-time, whereas others like SiteGround take daily backups of your server. A weekly backup is really very low.

RoseHosting does offer additional automatic backup options for a fee.

7-Day Money Back Guarantee

RoseHosting will refund your money within 7 days no questions asked if you want to revert your purchase for some reason. I think 7 days is enough, but other providers have far, far higher periods like 97 days for DreamHost!

It might, or it might not matter to you, but it’s something worth noting.

Summary of RoseHosting

In the end, RoseHosting specializes in VPS. All their plans – from the cloud to WordPress, to other application hosting like Magento, etc focuses on VPS. They have traditional web hosting as well, but it’s less emphasized. If you’re looking for a long-term hosting provider for your VPS needs, it’s hard to overlook RoseHosting. Their customer service is excellent, and their unique features allow you to craft the exact server you need, while at the same time, allowing you to upgrade whenever you want.
